Jurgen Heitmann is a co-founder of Invictus Advisors LLC and recently transitioned from a career in Naval Special Warfare as a Captain after 32 years of service. He has deep experience in leadership, planning, crisis and deliberate decision-making, team building and execution. He bridges his unique experience of command leadership of high performing teams, developing and optimizing adaptable organizations and complex problem solving in very dynamic, politically sensitive environments to help develop and strategically advise leaders and organizations in both the commercial and National Security sectors. He is passionate in optimizing human performance and catalyzing the potential of others.
Jurgen finished his military career in strategic roles as Deputy Director for Military Affairs at the Central Intelligence Agency’s Counterterrorism Center where he provided advice and assistance to the Director of the CIA and executive leadership. Previously he served as the Director of Counterterrorism Policy for the Office of the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon, reflecting his ability to build relationships and trust as well as thrive in these dynamic environments.
Jurgen operationally commanded at many levels within the Special Operations community and constantly drove organizational transformation while he conceptualized and led unique sensitive mission commands. He deployed extensively during his career, leading operations throughout the Middle East, Africa, Balkans, South America, the Arabian Peninsula and Levant, Central and South Asia, the Pacific and Europe. He commanded Joint Task Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as within Embassies collaborating with our government agencies and partner nations to build and enable their special operations capabilities to conduct networked counterterrorism operations worldwide.
Jurgen earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Management from San Jose State University. Additionally, he is actively involved in several non-profits dedicated to helping rehabilitate wounded veterans through cycling and wilderness experiences, veteran transition programs as well as mentoring Gold Star family youth.
